VETERANS
As part of our national program the Catskill Elks plays its part in local veteran support.
Elks pledge "So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." The Elks National Veterans Service Commission takes that pledge one step further, and promises service to our nation's veterans and military members, with a special focus on service to those in need.
The Catskill Elks Lodge, along with the Cairo American Legion Post 983, proudly co-sponsors the annual BBQ fundraiser spearheaded by Lynch’s Pot O’Gold Campground in Cairo. This event brings in thousands of dollars every year for disabled veterans in our area.
The Catskill Elks Lodge proudly serves a full hot breakfast to local veterans, as well as family members and friends. This is an annual event wherein we strive to show our appreciation for all that veterans have done for our country. A special thank you to Catskill American Legion Post 110 members who consistently show their support of our lodge and veteran-related community activities.
Officers and members of the Catskill Elks Lodge routinely visit with the veterans residing at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. While visiting with these veterans, they often hand out ice cream and popcorn, a very welcome treat!
The Catskill Elks Lodge, in financial collaboration with Grand Lodge and other local organizations, shop and deliver assorted clothing and other gifts to veterans in our local nursing homes during the Holiday season.
