The Catskill Elks Lodge #1341 is one of over 2200 Lodges and 1.3 million members across the United States of America. Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up. Our Lodge plays its own part in the grand focus of the Elks National Organization. We have been part of this community for over 100 years doing our part of Caring and Sharing. The Elks is a community-based organization offering local scholarships, help to the needy, low-cost rental of our facilities while at the same time, promoting Americanism, support for our Veterans and programs to build a healthy younger generation. An Englishman, by the name of Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian born October 22, 1842, the son of a clergyman and a successful comic singer and dancer in the music halls of London, was the founder of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Many of the Elks philosophies and traditions can be traced as far back as the year 1910. Before coming to the United States, Charles was a member of a fraternal organization in England called the Royal and Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes. The Buffaloes started around 1910, and there is considerable evidence that Charles introduced many of their beliefs to the Elks, including the 11 o'clock toast.
As part of our commitment to our local communities we have many nationwide programs. Please explore some the national programs offer by the Elks.
